Shinto and BBQs- Monthly recap

So I look at my clock today as see its the 01/02/06 and think, “perhaps I should get a new battery for it”. Looking at my Laptop clock and calendar I realised its been nearly a month since I wrote down anything, so appologies on that.

So what have I been up to this month. Well having met my last deadline with next to no time spare I had my usual MA performance review and got some good input and as usual appeared to be up to required standards. I did feel quite fustrated as the past few weeks building up to that meeting had been filled with reading litterally 40-50 articles/books and uncovering little or no infomation, and then the night before hand I hit the jackpot. Needless to say this month is get your head down and work your ass off month, so hopefully these articles/books will be of some use.

Apart from work, which does take up most of my time, I have had somewhat a bit of a social life this time round- excluding my avid attempts to become the most hated member on the outpost Gallifrey forum which often is my only contact to the outside world.

Two weeks ago BLEEP came over and we discussed some stuff for developing our site. The input was good but sadly nothing happened as we once again were lured to the Idle fishary lunch time offer, and spent the remainder of the day eating fish and watching my ever aging VHS collection (I have only just replaced my DVD player).

Little Tom AKA HOBO JESUS was over this month. I ended up sleeping in the cluster to get work done as well as being my only means of getting into leeds so bloody early on a Sunday in order to catch him. We had starbucks and had a good wander round town, partaking at the usual activities as looking at comic books and arguing which is better, classic who or BSG. Sadly I had to get home to finish work for my meeting the next day so it was cut short, but it was nice to see Tom again.

I also met up with claire 2 weeks ago and ended up drinking and clubbing- not necessarily in that order- and crashing on her couch. It was great fun as I haven’t loosened up in a while. The next day we went shopping for Jeans and I realized that Primart is CHAV capital, and I longed to have a shot gun to force all mothers with push prams out the store. Needless to say I didn’t find any Jeans, mainly because I got stuck in the women’s laungary section and couldn’t find where the Jeans section was.

Last week was Esther’s birthday and that was a treat. I haven’t seen the old gang in a while and so I relish whatever time I get to see them. I went down to pick up Esther’s present I had ordered with ellouise and had a chat about how things where going. She’s a much better theologian than me and her advice is always welcome. Having overdosed on starbucks she showed me her new digs and made me green with envy (or I may just have been feeling sick due to much coffee). I then attended the BBQ, met up with people who knew me but I couldn’t remember them or see them (smoke you see-or rather you don’t). All in all a good day and I made some amusing videos (see below).

This weekend was a blast. I met up with Dan and went to see Hancock which was quite enjoyable. We then returned to mine, got very drunk, tried to recreate dialogue from Genesis of the Daleks- much to my sisters annoyment as she was trying to sleep, ate pizza and filmed some rather odd footage with my camera involving me standing on my head quoting the whole of episode one and Dan talking about times at WGS.

My Dads over this month so I hope to get out some what more, though bit tight on money as I’m still repaying stuff from the Seattle trip. I am hoping to go to London in September but before then I aim to go to Nottingham to visit the Buddhist priory there as part of my research.

so that’s my recap of the past few weeks- or what I can remember. Below are some videos I made of the BBQ with my bad attempts at translating Malay (aka I didn’t even try, I just made it up including the bits in English).

Also here’s another video I made to show some of my research into Shinto in America

Doctor Who Collectables

Silvester McCoy

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do."
