It is not often that I am complimentary about this backwards city of Bradford, so when I finally am, you know it must be something good.
Bradford may be infamous for its Curry’s, cheap takeaways and ever growing McDonald’s and subway chain where the scum of the earth seem to congregate, but it does seem to have at least one nice place to dine for the casual English gentleman.
My friend Dan and I are keen on very fresh food, particularly in our vegetables. We often find when we eat out the stuff is from a tin or something, which annoys us so. Last Sunday we where in for a real treat, as we went to the Symposium, a nice little wine bar and resteraunt in the back end of the Idle village.
We managed both to wolf down the freshest, finest food we have ever eaten, in a very nice secluded environment where one could smell the fresh food, feel the breeze and more importantly, simply sit and chat without the conversation drowning out due to loud music.
The Symposium does a deal, 10 for a 3 LARGE course meal, consisting of food cooked on the premises using vegetables from their own greenhouse out back. I can honestly say my taste buds erupted with pleasure.
The staff where very friendly, which is unusual for Bradford, and it was nice to be able to have a conversation with them without people queuing all the time and moaning.
So if you ever visit my neck of the woods, I suggest all of you visit this fine little Establishment. I may go there for my tea tonight.
